Azure Power has won a contract to deliver 20 MW of solar rooftop installations for Indian Railways. As the largest rail network in Asia, Indian Railways hopes that its program to electrify all of its railway stations with solar power can have a positive impact on the country’s emissions footprint.
This latest allocation for Azure Power places the developer as the largest supplier of solar power to Indian Railways, with a cumulative awarded capacity of 66 MW.
Azure Roof power will be employed to provide capacity to various rail facilities across 17 states and union territories. The solar power will be sold at a tariff in the range of INR 3.64 to 4.49 based on the location.
