A total of Rs 98,000 crore has been approved by the Cabinet for development of 100 smart cities and rejuvenation of 500 others. For Smart Cities Mission, Rs 48,000 crore and for Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), a total funding of Rs 50,000 crore has been approved by the Cabinet.
Smart Cities India 2016 exhibition and conference will connect exhibitors and speakers with the government administrators, municipal bodies, industry leaders, and investors who have interest in developing smart cities.
Focussed on smart governance, smart energy, smart environment, smart ICT, smart mobility, smart buildings, the conference will deliberate on aspects pertaining to clean water; efficient solid waste management; improved low emission public transport; proliferation of electric and hybrid vehicles for private use; clean energy for smart buildings; etc., all enabled through the use of ICT. The objective is to provide public services for private benefit - creating a partnership between the government and its citizens.
