Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (HOEC) was incorporated in 1983 for taking up exploration and production (E&P) activities inter-alia by Late Mr H T Parekh. HOEC’s operational activities commenced in 1991 with the Government of India announcing the fourth round of exploration bidding for private sector participation.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) is an Indian multinational oil and gas company headquartered in Dehradun, India. It is a public sector undertaking (PSU) of the Government of India, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. It is India's largest oil and gas exploration and production company.

Pursuant to the directive of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, GAIL had undertaken a study to supply natural gas to the automobile, industrial, commercial and domestic consumers in the cities of Agra and Lucknow to accomplish improvement of its ambient air quality.
